SAINTS players have posted messages thanking Nicola Cortese as he leaves the club.

Luke Shaw tweeted to his 124,000 followers his gratitude for everything the former Saints supremo did for him.

He said: "Gutted with that news, but would just like to thank Nicola Cortese for everything he has done for me and the club! All the best to him!"

Meanwhile, defender Dejan Lovren, who joined the club in the summer, posted: "Thank you Nicola Cortese for everything . #respect"

The best tribute they can pay him is to carry on playing their hearts out for the rest of the season, starting at Sunderland on Saturday. COYR!

As good as, as far as we are concerned, my point is, that what he created would be totally wasted if it isn't perpetuated by his squad, I won't have much respect for any players that run away before it is obvious which way things are going. Man City have just gone 4 up against Blackburn, could we ever match that?

With any luck, the reason he convinced MoPo to stay is that he'll be with some of his rich client-base to buy her out and resume where he left off.
If that's the case, he'll need MoPo to explain to the players and maintain some stability!

(I'm allowed to hope!)

like your first comment osprey but I think you could have worded it a bit better.
maybe if you didnt say memory, something you would say if he died, and said hard work and ethos instead. but then what do I know?

Great post. Whether it's the Chinese from Dalian, the Dubai consortium, or someone different, I think NC has gone to find buyers who back his and Markus Liebherr's vision. My ardent hope is that NC will be back, with more power to push us on. (Any Saints staff who don't like this are free to leave!! Good riddance!!)
