MEDIA students were given a taste of what it is like to work in the music business as they made music videos for up-andcoming rock stars.

Sixth formers at Harwich and Dovercourt High School were visited by Swedish four-piece the Spin, who are trying to crack the UK market.

Students were tasked with making videos for one of the band’s tracks.

The group returned to the school for students to pitch their ideas. The musicians also performed a lunchtime concert.

Philippa Parks, the school’s head of media , said: “The whole process was how it would be in the industry, with groups making videos and presenting them to the band.

“The Spin were delighted by the options they were given and were supposed to pick a winner to put on their website, but they loved them all. The hall was packed for the concert, with 250 students and lots more staff. The band were brilliant.

“Their Twitter and Facebook have exploded with new followers and friends and we are looking for a venue to try and stage a bigger showwith them, so they can play their tracks and have the students’ videos alongside them.

“I am a popular teacher at the moment because I am with the band.”
