  • "Kat certainly cutting costs this month. Plenty going out the door and not one in. Seems the new idea is sell anyone worth cash that won't upset the fans and replace with an 18 yo from the academy."

On-loan Saints midfielder Jason Puncheon is expected to seal a permanent move to Crystal Palace.

The Daily Echo understands the winger is set to move to Selhurst Park on a full time basis before the transfer window closes for a fee of around £1.75m.

Puncheon has been a hit since joining Palace on loan this season and is now seen as surplus to requirements at St Mary’s.

He has enjoyed a turbulent time since joining the club in 2010.

After a good start under Alan Pardew he fell out of favour and was sidelined by Nigel Adkins, getting loaned out to the likes of Millwall, Blackpool and QPR.

Puncheon made a Saints return but asked for the loan to Palace for personal reasons at the start of the season and new Eagles boss Tony Pulis is now set to complete a deal to make him a permanent signing.
