AT every Premiership match, as the players shake hands, a piece of music is played. Every match I have seen live and on TV uses the music at the same time. My question is: is it FIFA rules that it has to be played or do the clubs have a choice?

I ask as Newcastle never play it and just continue to play the Local Hero theme all the way from players running onto the pitch to close to kick-off. Surely this is unfair to the away team.

Scott Wilson, chief sports writer, says: The Premier League anthem is called My Saturday Self, and it was written by Peter Lawlor. It was introduced this season to accompany the “fair play handshake”, and Newcastle’s Local Hero theme segues into it, as Sunderland’s Ready To Go theme does.
