Sir – I was not surprised to hear that students at Oxford Spires Academy are taken off roll to boost GCSE results (Report, January 23).
If you take education out of local authority control and put it into the hands of a range of competitive private enterprises, there is inevitably the potential for dubious market practices to develop. Altogether disappointing, but totally predictable.
