SOUTHEND United’s Roots Hall home will play host to the start of a 12-year-old’s 50-mile journey to East London as he bids to raise £50,000 for the Bobby Moore Fund.
The five-day journey will take Jonjo Heuerman from Roots Hall to West Ham’s Upton Park – dribbling a football all the way.
Jonjo, from Wilmington, Kent, will start his Boot it for Bobby walk at 11am, on Tuesday, February 18, by Southend United captain John White and is scheduled to arrive in time for West Ham’s fixture with Southampton on February 22.
Jonjo said: “I’m really excited about this year’s challenge. I really love football, so it will be fun.”
Jonjo, who has already raised £145,000 for the charity through a variety of sponsored walks, is inspired by the memory of his Nanny Lyn, who died of bowel cancer in 2008, aged 60.
