DIMI Mascarenhas suffered defeat in today’s Big Bash final.
The former Hampshire captain was involved in three of the wickets to fall as Perth Scorchers amassed 191-4 against the Hobart Hurricanes.
But Hobart lost by 39 runs after being restricted to 152-7 in reply.
It looked like it might be Mascarenhas’s day when former Hampshire teammate Simon Katich cut the first ball of his second over straight to cover.
He also two good catches, including a skier following a top-edged pull from Adam Voges, another former Hampshire teammate.
But he conceded 46 from his four overs and, despite former Hampshire batsman George Bailey’s 58, Hobart’s chances were all but over before Mascarenhas (16) sent a leading edge to Katich at the end of the penultimate over.
