A woman who died aged 81 was a victim of natural causes rather than an asbestos-related disease, an inquest heard.
Kathleen Atkinson, of Bar Lane, Riddlesden, died in May, 2013, at Airedale Hospital after being admitted with a lower respiratory tract infection.
The inquest in Bradford today heard medics said she suffered from mesothelioma, a condition often associated with exposure to asbestos.
But cousins of Mrs Atkinson said she worked in office jobs at Bradford Council, the youth employment service and a textile company and would have been unlikely to have come into contact with asbestos. Her late husband Fred did not work with asbestos either.
Assistant Coroner Dr Dominic Bell said mesothelioma was not uniquely linked to asbestos and recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
