HYTHE & Dibden rose to third in Sydenhams One as their amazing revival continued with a 5-0 victory at Ringwood Town.

After two seasons marooned at the bottom of the table, the upwardly mobile Waterside club have kept ten clean sheets in their last 13 games, scoring 30 goals.

Striker Seun Olabiyi was the star of their latest success, grabbing a hat-trick at The Canotec Stadium.

“After the long break, it was important for us to keep pressure on the teams around us,” said manager Lee Burch.

“We weren’t at our best, but we got stronger as the game went on and I was pleased with another clean sheet.

“Seun’s hat-trick was his reward for his hard work during the game and his fantastic attitude this season. I just hope we can continue this run and the weather doesn’t stop us playing again.”

After a scrappy start, Olabiyi opened the scoring on 13 minutes, controlling Jon Brock’s pass on his chest before lobbing the advancing ’keeper. He struck again on 40 minutes, this time after good work by Mark Lilley.

With Simon De’Ath forced off by injury at half-time, Hythe sent on John Mulhern, who returned to the club last week. He had previously made 84 Wessex appearances for the Jones Lane outfit between 2008 and 2011, scoring 32 goals.

Olabiyi completed his hat-trick on 50 minutes, flicking Terry Cox’s corner goalwards and netting with the aid of a deflection off the ’keeper.

Brock got the fourth and Sam McCarthy the fifth – both from Cox corners.

It was Hythe’s biggest away victory of the season, stretching their winning streak to six games.

They will look to keep it going tonight at home to Laverstock & Ford.
