JAMIE Barron set a captain’s example as Folland Sports’ incredible run continued in the Sydenhams Premier Division.

Barron, pictured right, scored a hat-trick as the soaraway Planemakers smashed Lymington Town 6-1 at Southampton Road, making it nine wins and a draw from their last ten league games.

“I felt a bit sorry for Lymington because they had several key players missing and I gave our lads a right rollicking for giving a silly goal away,” said Follands boss Danny Bowers. “But we were really good in the second half and it was great to see Baz (Barron) score a hat-trick because he’s been our unsung hero for a while now.

“He makes goals for everyone else and I think he’s on 16 for the season now himself, which isn’t bad from the centre of the park.”

Follands raced two up in ten minutes at Lymington – Barron smashing the first home from 12 yards following a corner and then conjuring up a clever finish after Jamie Betteridge had headed on Matt Graham’s cross. After Lymo had halved the deficit, another corner came out to James Roden who clinically buried it from the edge of the box to make it 3-1 at half-time.

Barron turned provider for 16-year-old Betteridge to net his sixth in three games and then completed his hat-trick after Mike Turvey had dummied sub Ryan Long’s ball in from the left.

Long, just back from flu, netted number six himself after yet more good work by unstoppable skipper Barron.

The win keeps Follands fourth heading into Saturday’s home match against Romsey Town. “The lads have been fantastic, they really have,” smiled Bowers. “They’ve got no fear and are playing some really good football. All credit to them and the coaching staff.”

With goalkeeper Ryan Gosney starting a three-match suspension on Saturday and his understudy Sam Scrase off to Mexico, the Planemakers have signed former Sholing ’keeper Scott O’Rourke who recently parted company with Brockenhurst.
