Plymouth boss in hot water over Blatter 'idiot' jibe

Daily Echo:

Plymouth manager Ian Holloway is facing possible disciplinary action from the Football Association after allegedly calling FIFA president Sepp Blatter ''an idiot and a lunatic''.

Holloway blamed Blatter for changes to the offside rule following Plymouth's 1-1 draw with Saints on New Year's Day.

The FA have written to the Plymouth manager asking him to explain his comments and Holloway could either be warned or charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

Holloway reportedly said after the match: ''Sepp Blatter: you are an idiot. Put the rules back to what they should be. He is a complete lunatic".

News of the remarks have filtered through to FIFA headquarters in Zurich.

Had such comments been made about a senior English official, disciplinary action would have been taken and Holloway can expect a similar rap.

Blatter is not personally responsible for the changes to the offside rules - they are determined by the International FA Board, which is made up of representatives from FIFA and the four home nations.

An FA spokesman said: ''We have written to Ian Holloway for his explanation as to these comments.''
