NAUNTON DOWNS professional Nick Ellis’ good season of results continued as he tied for second at the latest Gloucester and Somerset PGA Medal at Shirehampton with his 71.

Had Nick managed to avoid half of the four bogeys in his round, he would have been toasting his second win of the campaign, after his success at Cotswold Hills in November.

The result did move him back above the absent David Haines into fourth place in the Total Triumph Order of Merit.

The Shirehampton winner was Filton head professional Daryl Kelley whose three over par 70 was the best on a day of high scoring.

Cirencester head pro Ed Goodwin had one of his lesser days with his nine over par 76.

Giuseppe Licata limped around in 74 and yet strengthened his commanding lead at the top of the Order of Merit with just over a month of the season remaining.
