DANNY Green, one of the UK’s most prestigious natural history photographers, was the latest in a long line of top quality lecturers invited to speak to the society.
And what an evening it turned out to be when he regaled members with a programme entitled The Long Journey North, illustrated with outstanding images of the natural world and the stories behind the photographs.
His lecture took the group on a fantastic journey to exotic locations, colonised by seabirds, mammals and reptiles, from Scotland to Shetland, Finland to the Arctic Tundra of Iceland and the Polar icecaps of Svalbard.
His images have been widely published and he has achieved worldwide recognition with Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards as well as other national and international photography honours.
Such powerful, memorable images, enabled members to have a greater appreciation and wider understanding of the natural world and will stay in the memory for a considerable time.
