AFTER having cycled on footpaths, pavements and roads around Andover for 64 years, I feel qualified to comment.
Many of the roads in and around Andover are no longer fit or safe to be used by cyclists. The more cycle paths and lanes, the better.
The cyclists’ charity CTC states: “CTC does not condone unlawful cycling on pavements.
“However police should exercise discretion in the use of fixed penalty notices between those whose behaviour is dangerous and antisocial and those who are acting out of concern for their own safety without presenting any threat to others.”
