ROMSEY Town have cut admission prices for this Saturday’s crunch Sydenhams Wessex League relegation battle with Downton Town.

With just four games left for Romsey, every point is vital if they are to pull off a second consecutive great escape.

Out of the remaining fixtures, no game is more crucial than Saturday’s, as Town host bottom club Downton.

With just three points separating the two sides, and only one team between them, a win for Romsey would be a significant boost to their survival hopes.

Romsey are lying in 20th place, third bottom in the Sydenhams Premier Division.

With the possibility of two teams going down, it looks like it will be between themselves, Downton and Fawley who suffer relegation.

The Town’s form has improved lately though, especially at home with just one defeat in their last six matches at the Bypass Ground.

Hopes are high This means hopes are high for a result and for this must win game, admission prices have been reduced in order to get as much support behind Romsey as possible.

For this Saturday only, for the Downton match, adults will be £5 and concessions will be £2 on the gate.

Come on down to the Bypass Ground on Saturday to cheer on your local side in this pivotal relegation clash.

Romsey lost to high flying Folland Sports 3-1 last weekend, after taking the lead through Craig Vigar.

Substitute Dan Mason sparked Folland’s revival, equalising less than two minutes after coming on.

Jamie Barron and Matt Burt sealed the Planemakers 10th win in their last 11 games.

Romsey co-manager John McFarlane summed up: “I don’t think 3-1 was a fair reflection of the game.

“It’s a hard result to take when you’re one nil up with not a lot of time left.

“Especially as I felt their first goal was clearly offside.

“Our goalkeeper was ahead of their player which meant there was only one defender between him and the goal and there has to be two.

“But it shows how far we have come as a group that we are disappointed to be losing against sides like Folland and Sholing.

“But if we keep playing the same way, we will get our luck eventually.”
