Sir – I feel compelled to express my thoughts about the large sum of our public money which has been wasted on the A361, a road I know very well.

There was a good level and smooth surface which has recently been sliced up and 33 large sections and strips taken out, removed and refilled, on a one mile stretch northwards, from Shipton-under-Wychwood railway station.
This has left a bumpy and unpleasant surface.

If hundreds of thousands of pounds are available to throw at the A361, I hope the attention will move six miles southwards and be applied to the bone-shaking surface of the A361 over and each side of Burford river bridge.

J. Pearse, Ascott-under-Wychwood
