Europa League woe for Saints' Dani Osvaldo

DANI OSVALDO

SAINTS loanee Dani Osvaldo’s Europa League dream is over.

Osvaldo and his Juventus colleagues went into last night’s semi final second leg tie at home to Benfica trailing 2-1.

And despite Mark Clattenburg sending off the visitors’ Enzo Perez with 21 minutes left, Juve failed to take advantage and could only manage a 0-0 draw.

Osvaldo only managed 12 minutes after being introduced as a late sub.

That meant another frustrating evening for the Italian international striker who is looking increasingly likely to return to St Mary’s at the end of this season.

Having only netted two Europa League goals since arriving in Turin at the end of January, Juve are unlikely to want to make Osvaldo’s move permanent.

Benfica will now face Sevilla in the final, ironically back at Juventus’ stadium.

Sevilla scored a last minute consolation in a 3-1 loss at Valencia last night to progress to the final on the away goals rule.

To be fair, it was Pogba (who pulled the ball back to him) who was a whole yard further offside when the original cross came in.

No way can Sevilla's goal (in the 4th minute of 5 minutes added time) be described as a "consolation"!! It was the away goal that turned the result of the tie right round. Watch their players and coaching team reaction!

Why is the DE so down on Dani, I watched the game last night and the Juventus squad is incredible, most players would struggle to get in their starting 11. And Dani did get the ball in the net, nobody else did, even if he was off side. I think Juve will take him and pay the price! Giving Potty Chino 15million towards a good forward!

Has anyone from juve said they don't want him? If not why are people so sure they don't? Why would they agree to have the option if they weren't keen on him?

How about the possibility that in about a year from now we are singing his praises as his form and goal contributions gets us into the top four. Its just a thought, and probably most would disagree, but it is possible yea?

Ermmm, you know what actually "consolation" means I suppose?? Got to be the worst description of a last gasp winner I have seen.
