No trip to Wembley is complete without one thing to make the day complete – a club song.

Liverpool had one in 1988 with the Anfield Rap, Tottenham hit the charts in 1981 with Ossie’s Dream and Manchester Utd’s most famous song was Move Move Move in 1996.

However, the next big club anthem to hit the charts will be dedicated to Sholing FC – ahead of their FA Vase Final against West Auckland Town on Saturday.

Southampton-based band Brother Goose have come up with the Brothers in Arms song dedicated to Sholing FC’s heritage with the maritime trade and the club’s family connections.

Lead singer Calum Lintott-Warrillow has his own link to the club as his dad Paul manages the under-10s side, and was delighted when he was asked if the band could come up with a song for the team.

Calum and guitar player Josh Betteridge composed the lyrics, which were inspired by how close-knit the players are.

The 20-year-old, who studies Popular Music production at Solent University, said: “The hardest thing was writing the lyrics. We didn’t want it to be anything cheesy.”

“But we were told by people at the club how the team are like a ‘band of brothers’ and that gave us the inspiration for our lyrics.”

“It has not sunk in that we are possibly going to play live at Wembley and also hear our song played on the Tannoys.”

One of the song’s biggest fans is Carly Kinsey, who is chairperson for Sholing Youth FC. She said; “I just love the song and I am incredibly enthusiastic about it.

“Some people heard it for the first time and did not think much of it, but the more people listen to it the more it is growing on them.”

The band, which has been going for nearly two years, consists of guitar player Josh Betteridge, 20, drums player Joe Ramsey, 21, and Joss Harvey on bass and Chris Barlow on guitar.

They are growing in reputation and previously wrote a song about Southampton called Hometown. They also won a place at the Blissfields Festival held in Winchester.
