Saints’ final day opponents Manchester United are reported to have tabled a £27m offer for Luke Shaw following this afternoon’s 1-1 draw at St Mary’s.

Various media outlets are reporting that the 18-year-old left back has already been the subject of a massive offer, with the noises in recent weeks having indicated a pre-World Cup bid from the Old Trafford club was likely.

Speaking after today’s game Saints chairman Ralph Krueger confirmed there had been no bids for Shaw or Lallana at that time but did add: “It is really important that people respect that there will be conversations going on, beginning tomorrow (Monday), with clubs.”

On top of that there are also reports that Ashley Cole has been told this evening he will not be in Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad. If they are correct then it means Shaw is likely to join teammates Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert in the party for Brazil, which is confirmed tomorrow.

Nathaniel Clyne also has an outside chance of making the 30 man party with Kyle Walker’s fitness in serious doubt.
