Saints end deal with adidas

Daily Echo: Dejan Lovren in the current adidas made away kit Dejan Lovren in the current adidas made away kit

Saints have announced that their kit for next season will not be made by adidas.

The current kit manfacturers will not be producing the new kit for next season, with further details yet to be released.

A club statement said: "Following months of discussions at the end of last year, the decision was made at the start of December 2013 that the Club would terminate its contract with its Official Technical Supplier, adidas.

"In February and March of this year, the Club worked hard to repair the relationship with adidas but, despite these healthy discussions, it has become clear that, due to the short lead times involved, adidas were unable to produce a Southampton kit in time for next season.

"As a result of this the Club has had to find an alternative solution, and we will be unveiling exciting news regarding our 2014/15 kit within the next couple of months."

I think the important part of the statement is that they tried to repair the relationship. what had gone wrong? NC was in charge at the time so what did he do or what happened?
I`m a big fan of what NC did for our club, but it seems there are 2 sides to the man.

I can't believe adidas don't have enough time to have a kit for next year. They grabbed a shirt straight off their shelf and stuck our sponsor on it.

Nice to have a top brand though. The shirts the club made in house a few years ago were a terrible fit and Umbro and adidas have been good.

Oi Mauricio! Stop fondlin them Tottenham shirts, you know it's going to cost you and don't speak to me like that in Spanish.

Last time I needed a Saints shirt, I popped into Toomers as Patsone & Cox had run out (A little tripdown memory lane).

Lets face it Saints have dumped Adidas because they could not accommodate us in Red and White stripes for next season. The decision was made to revert back to the stripes but Adidas already has a number of clubs playing in stripes and probably weren't prepared to design a new one for Saints. I'm sure Umbro or Nike will be more than happy to step into their shoes and provide a top 10 Premiership side with their kit for the next few years!

To me, that doesn't sound like the club decided it was angry with the designs Adidas offered - else they wouldn't try and patch things up. Adidas has even said they may produce the club's kit for the following season.

So, obviously, the club is trying to say that Cortese fell out with them. It won't be for the sold red design - he chose it, so what was it?
