  • "Not necessarily so, it depends on Katharina.
We are not far away from 'swimming with those big fish'.
Sign a big name Manager like Rafa Benitez who will convince our top players to stay and attract quality new ones will put us there.
We would recover Rafa's salary in no time so would could attract him.
That would not only be good for Saints but also good for the Premiership.
Two good strikers at say £20m (one in part exchange for Osvaldo), a center-back and goalkeeper at £10m for both, plus a free agent or two and we are there, not beyond Saints financial capability.
So come on Katherina, Ralph & Les go get Rafa and shoe woy and the rest that we mean business."

Teams like Saints will always lose top players to Premier League’s “big fish” - Hodgson

ROY HODGSON

England manager Roy Hodgson believes Champions League football means Saints are virtually powerless to stop their top players leaving.

Talking after Rickie Lambert’s shock move to Liverpool, who are also closing in on a deal for Adam Lallana, Hodgson said: “Good players are always going to gravitate to the big clubs.

“That’s where Champions League football is. That’s where the wealth is.”

He added: It’s a pity for Southampton – they’ve been terrific this year. But unfortunately there are always big fish in the sea and it’s hard to keep those fish away.”
