A 23-YEAR-OLD woman has told of her ordeal after being punched to the ground and kicked and punched on the floor by two robbers.

The two men were trying to grab Stephanie Atha’s mobile phone as she walked home from work as a nursing assistant in Guisborough on Saturday, May 31 at about 11.10pm.

She refused to let go of the phone and one of the men hit her in the face and she fell in the alleyway between Park Lane and Woodhouse Road.

“They just went straight for my phone,” said Miss Atha, “I thought they were joking at first, but I wouldn’t let go of it.

“One punched me and I slipped and fell so they kicked me in the face and stomach, I don’t know how many times.

“Somehow I managed to get to my feet and I just ran and ran. I got home and called my mam who is in Teesside Hospice getting respite care. She told me to call the police and they came and stayed with me until my sister got home.

“I’ve only left the house once since then to go to the doctors and I don’t want to go out on my own. I’ve been calling in sick to work. I have a broken or badly bruised rib which hurts but the cuts to my face are healing. I just want these people caught.”

The first robber was about 20 years old and about 5ft 3in. He had short dark hair with stubble and was thin. The second man about the same age and about 5ft 8in.

Anyone with information should contact DC Andy Paice at Kirkleatham Police Office on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
