Winchmore Hill suffered a seven-run defeat at Southgate on Saturday in the Herts League Division Two, despite an excellent bowling display.

The visitors won the toss and put Southgate into bat first, removing the hosts for just 81.

Jamie Jouning top-scored with 23 before being bowled leg before wicket and Kusal Mendis was Winchmore's second-highest scorer with 14.

De la Rey Terblanche excelled with the ball for Winchmore Hill, taking four for 24 whilst claiming four maidens.

In response, Winchmore could only muster 74 before they were bowled out.

Opener Scott Newman hit 17 to top score, with Jim Gatting and Terblanche (13) the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

David Woffinden took four for 20 for the hosts, with Faisil Mir removing claiming three wickets for the loss of just five runs.

Enfield recorded a 63-run victory at Eastcote on Saturday.

Eastcote won the toss and decided to bowl first, a decision which was far from vindicated as Enfield reached 217 for six before declaring.

The hosts could not reach the target necessary to salvage anything from the game as they were bowled out for 154.

Holtwhites Trinibis suffered a three-wicket defeat by Hitchin in the Middlesex League Division One on Saturday.

Winning the toss, Holtwhites elected to bat first, making 157 before being bowled out.

Ali Bulchtara made 27, with Yasir Mehmood and Nabil Jamil both reaching 24 before being dismissed.

Dave Moore was the most effective bowler, taking three for 42.

Hitchin reached their target of 158 with three wickets in hand.

Opener Rob Nicol made 81 and partner Michael Johnson 20 to guide Hitchin to the win.

Jamil took two for 26 for Holtwhites but they could not remove the visitors.

In Division Three, North Enfield suffered a 92-run thumping at the hands of Stevenage Seconds.

Batting first, Stevenage raced to a total of 170 for six from their allotted overs.

In reply, North Enfield could only muster a meagre 78 from 27 to record a comfortable defeat.

Northampton Exiles were beaten by Hatfield Hyde by 43 runs in the Readers County Trophy.

Visitors Northampton won the toss and asked Hatfield to bat, with the hosts making 228 for eight.

Only able to reach 185 before being bowled out, Northampton were easily second best.
