STEVE Riley has signed a 12-month contract extension as manager of AFC Totton.

After a season and a half of turbulence, the Stags will welcome some stability going into the new campaign with Riley, assistant boss Chris Ferrett and goalkeeping coach Steve Hollick all penning deals until May 2015.

With Totton deep in debt, there was a major exodus of senior players last summer, leaving Riley to start from scratch with a youthful, inexperienced squad.

Although the side improved in leaps and bounds after a difficult start to the campaign, it was too late to spare them relegation back to the Southern One South & West.

Thanking the management trio for their patience, chairman Andy Straker said: “Both Steve and his assistants stood by AFC Totton when it would have been easier to walk away and this contract extension is our way of saying thank you.

“With the club now having a sounder footing and work already underway on formulating next season’s squad, all supporters of AFC Totton should be excited about the new season ahead.

“I believe with this management team and the squad of players we will have by the start of the season, we can show the South & West Division what AFC Totton is all about.”
