RUMOUR MILL, July 2 - Saints offer £8.7m for Serbian ace Dusan Tadic

Daily Echo: Dusan Tadic Dusan Tadic

SAINTS are reported to have bid £8.7m for Dutch League star Dusan Tadic.

The attacking midfielder was fourth top scorer in the Erevidisie last season with 16 goals - two of which were scored in FC Twente's 4-1 caning of Ronald Koeman's Feyenoord.

In addition, the Serbian international was top of the list for most assists - 14.

Tadic is seen as an ideal replacement for Adam Lallana, as he can play on the left side of midfield.

Saints are also reported to have failed in a £5m bid for Koeman's former Feyenoord striker Graziono Pelle.

The Italian was second top scorer in the Dutch League last season with 23 goals.

The previous season, 2012/13, he was again second top scorer with 27 strikes - only beaten by Wilfreid Bony, then of Vitesse Arnham prior to his move to Swansea.

if we want them may have to increase the bids a bit they all know we've got a bit of cash that we need to spend. if they're trying to hold us to ransom then stuff them.

I do think however that we need a real marque signing to show the remaining players that we mean business. Lukaku or Shaquri would do it for me!

Tadic Seems to be the real deal, up the offer for Pelle and we are moving in the right direction.
Van Dijk and Danny Ings would be great additions.
A left back should also be on the shopping list and Cork needs to be retained.
How much have I spent so far?

Schniederlin, according to reports/rumours has now asked for a move.
He is currently on less than £10k per week. apparently.
If we want to keep this special talent we'll need to pay at least £50k/wk.
We need to raise the bar where wages are concerned, if we are to compete in the league, we must surely start to pay what the players are worth or we will simply lose them.
Obviously the £100k/wk bracket is beyond us and most clubs in the league, but we need to be reasonable where wages are concerned.

i believe Morgan signed a new contract last season which took him to wages of £35K a week. A very good weekly wage, but not good enough for a top prem and french international midfielder. I would have thought that we would have to look to take that up to about £50K-£60K per a week to stand any chance of keeping him. I am liking the look of the players we are linked with - hopefully we wont sale anyone else and can sign 4-6 players.

Out of interest, I thought Tadic was the league's third or fourth top scorer last season according to a previous article? Just goes to show how the Saints can improve a player - and we haven't even signed him yet.

First off, Novak Djokovic is a Serb. Also, he doesn't have a regular doubles partner, so am not sure what you're talking about.
Also, would you care to tell us how you've established that most former Yugoslavs are twisted?
And, there are plenty of clubs where Croats, Serbs, Bosnians etc play together and get along great.
So quit talking out of your arse.
Anyway, as I've posted here before, the general feeling here in Serbia (where people can be very critical towards our players) is that paying even £10 million for Tadic would be a bargain for the Saints. I hope they're proven right!

I worked with a Serbian, back in 1991 in Deep Pan Pizza Company at Ocean Village. He said he was Serbian. I laughed and I said 'Ah! One of the bad guys!"
He looked a bit sad, shrugged his shoulders and said, 'Yes'.
I was 19, and a bit... well... like a 19 year old.
I felt bad, all the same.

I have seen Pelle on Youtube he looks a fantastic determined Player, Ronald knows him well and if it's true the offer was £5m I'm no expert in valuation of Players but IMO it's probably £5m below his true value, of course he hasn't played in the Premiership so his valuation wouldn't be as high as a Premiership Player so I expect that Ronald knows he can do the business for Southampton and will want him a higher bid will probably be offered and they should get in quick because Pelle will of alerted the remaining Premiership Managers one in particular who would gloat if his Club made a bid and Pelle then had a choice and choose Spurs, but Southampton and Ronald have the advantage that Players often follow there Gaffers and Pelle could eventually join his ex Boss.
What could be exciting for the Supporters is Pelle signs for Southampton and we then we can boast that Pelle is now Playing for Southampton ok give or take 1 letter but who cares?

Great if we get Tadic - he looks a real bast - just what we need.

If we offered £5m for Pelle no wonder they told us to bog off - they must think we are taking a sample - I would have offered £10m for starters.

What is the club playing at? Don't insult the clubs we are buying from with poor offers or they won't sell to us.

i'm really hoping the club sign someone soon but I certainly won't be holding my breath. Seems those in control at the club are like Emperor Nero who did nothing while Rome burned. Even if things are going on behind the scenes why does it take so long. Come on Saints FOCUS and get strengthening the squad the clock is ticking and any new players need time to a) settle in a new area and b) gel with their teammates - I'm fully expecting a relegation battle next year as Reed et al seem determined to wreck all the good work done.

Pay him it then it might keep him happy for another season or two and give us more time to find a replacement - difficult but we'll have to do it.

Liarllana apparently was on 35k give Spiderman that money and see if it keeps him happy for a bit.
