Le Tissier tells wantaway star Lovren: Keep your trap shut

Daily Echo: Matt Le Tissier Matt Le Tissier

SAINTS legend Matt Le Tissier has told wantaway star Dejan Lovren to “keep his trap shut.”

Lovren has today angered Saints fans by admitting his mind is set on following Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana to Liverpool.

“Frankly, my head is already at Liverpool,” he Croatian centre half admitted.

Lovren has also been critical of Saints for selling their best players this summer.

But Le Tissier tweeted: “So @DejanLovren05 wants to leave Sfc for lfc cos were selling best players. If he signs & they sell Suarez will he want another transfer?”

Le Tissier followed that comment up with a second tweet: “IMO until your club accept a bid from a team wishing to buy you, the player in question should keep his trap shut.”

Would love the club to take a hard line with lovren , say to him you are going nowhere but unfortunately its a bit like cutting your nose off to spite your face , I don't want any player who doesn't want to give 100% to SFC, letting him rot in the reserves is a waste if the clubs money.
So sell the tw#t but not to diverpool , sell him abroad if no one wants him then loan him to the skunts for a season !!

I'd of been happy with 16mil for Lovren. He was good last season but simple business - double our money and sell. There are plenty of other good CBs, we don't need some fool who thinks we aren't good enough for him.
Liverpool are a bigger club, us SFC fans are deluded if we think otherwise but saints just need to get their money's worth. We are not trying to 'offload' players therefore other teams must pay what we value them as. Simple.
As for his comments, I never want to see him on a saints shirt again

After saying this can we really see him playing for Saints again. I am still struggling to understand what the attraction is of Liverpool . The team have won nothing for years, just living off past memories. The team was a man man team last season take Suarez out of them and they are mid table. They will be out of the CL very early.
Last season was there best chance for a long time to win the PL and they bottled it. They will not win it again as they can't compete with the big spenders and the top 4 clubs.
They have taken our players who were mid table performers and expect CL performance dream on!
Secondly Saints should if only sell Lovren to them if they agree to a really big fee they can't resist. Please don't sell to Judas at Spurs.
I liked the look of the Costa Rica centre back he has shown real composure on the ball and has great defensive qualities. He would cost a fraction of the £20m plus we would get for Lovren and would be a far better player with money to spare for another CB as cover.
It is obvious that all these want always cooked this plan up when Cortose left that's why I think Poch is implicated in this. I bet the conversation was let us get to the highest position we can, get players selected for the World Cup and then you can get your agents working on this.
The whole thing stinks and someone is in the middle of this.
I still have faith that RK will develop a good team but it's a nervous time for us Saints supporters at the moment. Some communication from the club to the supporters would be helpful .

I'm told by good sources that Lovren is the main voice in the dressing room which explains a lot .For RK to have a chance he needs to be able to get rid of the unsettling players and bring in his own .At this rate it would of been easier to give Brendan Rogers the saints job .To think I was hoping for football in general that Liverpool won the prem last season. Now I hope we stuff them both games and they get knock out of CL in the first stage.First game of the season at Anfield,we win 1-0 courtesy of a Lovren own goal.Lambert misses last min pen and Lallana stays on the bench

I come in peace to fans and a Club I have always respected and I kept an eye on you when you were relegated to the lower divisions and was glad you made your way back(hopefully Leeds will do the same) .I was wondering how you guys were dealing with all the upheaval and uncertainties with your best players and former manager leaving so I came on your website. I must say after what Lovren said I hope he does not sign for us . I take no joy in a player disrespecting his club for another and if he can do it you then he can do it to Liverpool as well. I'm glad we got Lambert and Lallana because I wanted my club to have the best English players with a sprinkling of outstanding foreign talent. I understand some of you are upset with Lallana but to my knowledge he didn't make his wanting to leave public as Lovren did. Koeman is a good CL level manager so I'm sure he will do well and bring some good players from the Erivedisie.
Keep Lovren like we did with Suarez last year. If players detect weakness they will take advantage of your club. Let him leave on your terms and other players will think before they do anything like Lovren did in his interview. Hopefully thinks will work out for both our clubs but I must disagree with some of you saying we are nothing without Suarez. Liverpool will go on without Suarez and Southampton will go on without players who don't want to be there. YNWA

Bottom line

true but all I am meaning is that both the Italian Dictator NC and the previous manager were so in cohesion that they just wanted after christmas to basically destroy the club and by any means
just my opinion.
I also feel we will be a lot stronger than last year, maybe start off slow, but we will be strong….. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday this week is crucial for appointments, but the players that have left except RL have complete petulance for the club and the previous 2 mentioned have been poisoned by judas…. he did exactly the same to Espanyol before during and after he got sacked from there.

Liverpool are a bigger club, us SFC fans are deluded if we think otherwise but saints just need to get their money's worth. We are not trying to 'offload' players therefore other teams must pay what we value them as. Simple.
As for his comments, I never want to see him on a saints shirt again
"double our money and sell" Why is that better than triple our money and sell?

YNWA
I also respect genuine supporters of their clubs, we fans don't get any say in what the owners / directors do and can only hope that their actions are in the best interest of the club.

I for one, accept that Ricky got his dream move to his home club, you have got a top bloke and model professional. We all hope he does well with you except against us !

It is different in Adam's case, he is a local lad and was our captain. He signed a long contract only last year on the basis that it was the club's intention to progress further over the next few seasons. Last season proved that Saints were doing that, even with first the Chairman and then the manager leaving. The club are financially stable, have a top new training facility and have shown intent by the quality appointment of a new manger to take us forward. Yet despite all this he insisted to leave without even showing any respect for the club or us fans by coming to meet and talk to Koeman first. You would expect that from a Liverpool player, especially an influential one.
I agree with you, in that our board should have told him that he was staying just as your board told Suarez last season. However every player has his price and if that valuation is met, and it is in the clubs best interest then players are sold and the money used to improve the team.

We are all upset down here because it was Adam who pushed for the move just as the club had started the progress that he sign up for, if we hadn't progressed, then his request to leave would have been understandable. We are wondering what he is now thinking if you sell Suarez.

We feel the same about Luke Shaw but £30m is good money for a LB and we could accept our board selling him because the money could be used in the clubs best interest. Sometimes this happens as Chelsea found by accepting an offer for Luiz and you will for Suarez even if he hadn't done that bite.

In Lovren's case the board has dug its heels in this time, especially under the fans criticism for selling both Adam & Luke so are not keen to sell any more unless it is in the clubs best interest. This is why they are holding out for a high price as you are with Suarez. Lovren needs to come and talk to Koeman and then a decision can be made.

No club wants to see its best players sold and we have sold one to many already, although if you want Osvaldo we would be interested !!

However no player can be bigger than his club and as you say we will go on without them as you will without Suarez. Thanks for your comments and good luck next season, we just might surprise you !

I am going to give Lovren just one more chance (please read on before giving the thumbs down!). His reported statement is just so crass and stupid I am just keeping an open mind on whether he actually said these things. Firstly the reports came from a Croatian sports paper so we have no idea how accurate and in context the quotes are. Secondly, the sentences stinks of "agents speak" so possibly he lets his agent do the talking without checking on what goes out. Thirdly, some of the lines bear an uncanny resemblance to what Lallana said - the bits about Liverpool being such a great club and all that rubbish. Maybe whoever at Liverpool has been tapping up our players is using the same song sheet for all the taps.

But for Lovren to take this last chance he would have to apologise to the owner, players, staff and fans, admit he had been misguided and commit himself to the club and his contract

I agree. The Eredivisie may not be the top league in the Europe but there are some pretty talented players that have played in it or still play it, as well as pretty talented managers, like ours, who have both played and managed in it.
