RUMOUR MILL, July 7: Saints linked with Colombian left back

Pablo Armero (right) in action for Colombia

Pablo Armero (right) in action for Colombia

First published in Sport

The Daily Mirror and The Sun say that Ronald Koeman has identified Colombia’s left-back Pablo Armero, who plays for Udinese, as the replacement for Luke Shaw.

They claim that Armero, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, will be the subject of a £5m bid from Saints.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail report that the club are poised to make an £8m offer for Cardiff keeper David Marshall, although they say the Bluebirds value him at closer to £15m.

If that fails, the Mail reckon Saints will take a look at Celtic’s Fraser Forster, having supposedly already enquired about his price.

Goalkeeper wise, I would take Forster over Marshall, but in all honesty, we could spend the 8m to supliment the wages of Ochoa on a free (big signing on fee?)

If he is as good in League Football as in the WC he would be awesome

Dutch sports are reporting that Koeman has enquired on two Dutch international CB's. It did not name them so one may be the Celtic chap we already know about.

BBC are reporting that two of the players Skiverpool had said they were buying have now said 'we don't want to go to them'. They want to join a better club. Wonder if that has anything to do with who they have just bought.

I have absolute trust in Koeman to get the right players. Can't wait for the full Saints team to meet the half-Saints team on opening days of EPL. We have squeezed the max out of those who had Liverpool in their head and wants to leave. By the time Liverpool meet us in the 1st game, Suarez should be gone, Sterling may not be there, Agger may have left and a CL could have bought Sturridge. And another CL team could have come in for Coutinho too.

Armero is all agent talk - complete rubbish in my opinion and I hope I'm not proved wrong. Never buy anyone on the strength of tournament performances, particularly if they've already been rejected by West Ham.

To be honest though I fully think it is agent talk because he's been linked with Arsenal and us in the last couple of days - about as likely as Osvaldo really being wanted by Juve. They think they are good enough, sadly the actual clubs don't.

Keeper wise I hope those two aren't agent talk - either of them would do very nicely indeed thank you very much, particularly the Celtic lad IMO because I just think he'll get better and better and is more of a statement of intent youth wise.

One of them is Ron Vlaar!

Personally I would like to see this transfer happen - if w can have Armero competing agaist Matty Targett for LB I think it would be healthy and bring Matty to he first team setup without too much presure but plenty of opportunity.

I would like to see Saints humiliate Lovren by setting a pricing option as follows:
(prices differ based upon suitor)
Tottenham - £30million
Man Utd - £27million
Liverpool - £25million
Barca - £20million
Brentford - £1 but with 100% sell on clause

I cant wait or us to get rid of those hat dont want to be at our GREAT club!!... We may not be the biggest but we certainly have more class and pedigree than 'other' clubs when it comes to handling our transfer affairs.

Would like to see us sign some of the following:

Micah Richards
Scott Sinclair
Wilifed Bony
Andros Townsend
Dusan Tadic
Grazianno Pelle
Adam Johnson
Frazer Forster
Bruno Indi

Keeper absolute priority. Marshall would be my first choice and then the boy from Celtic. Next 1 or 2 CB depending on the situation with DL (appears to be not the smartest individual) and then 2 new forwards(must get rid of Osvaldo). probably a new LB and wide man and so quite a list. Does anyone else think Tom Ince could be decent in our team, as having seen him on TV in some lesser quality sides, he looked a good prospect ?

Goalkeepers.
Guillermo Ochoa (Free, amazing when he was younger, disappeared for a bit, but still amazing in the world cup and Ajaccio thought he was there best player, worth a go).

Maxym Koval (Dynamo Kiev, could become one of the best goalkeepers in the world, buyable).

Jasper Cillessen (Ajax, Not better than Boruc in my opinion but good competition, buyable).

Centre Backs.
Bruno-Martins Indi (Feynoord,Establishe
d in Hollands team, Going to Porto for less than £10 mill, we should get him, surely Koeman helps.

Shkodran Mustafi (Sampdoria, Future Germany CB, played at RB this world cup, lkely to be competition but huge future, not quite Hummels though, worth a go).

Virgil Van Dijk (Celtic, I believe will be Hollands best CB, is far more athletic than all of the others with a more rounded game, good replacement for Lovren, buyable).

Terrence Kongolo (Feyenoord, him and Indi have a higher ceiling than De Vrij when it comes to Feyenoord’s CB’s, buyable).

Eder Balanta (River Plate, Columbia’s future CB, buyable).

Left Back.
Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg, couldn't cost more than £13mill, buyable).

Jetro Willems (PSV, missed world cup through injury. Definite starter over Blind if fit, buyable).

Central Midfielders.
Jordy Classie (Feyenoord, Dutch Xavi, Koeman must mean he's buyable).

Right Wingers.

Richairo Zivkovic (Ajax, next big Dutch superstar. Higher cealing than Memphis Depay, not to expensive, buyable).

Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina, if we're willing to spend £15mil on players and compete with a few bigger clubs, worth a go).

Wilfried Zaha (Bad season at United and Cardiff, but was a beast before and still is, just needed a chance, buyable).

Left wing.
Alvaro Vadillo (Betis, Relegeted with Betis, therefore buyable, Spain’s future left winger, buyable).

Attack Midfielders.
Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg, worth a bid, may cost £20 mil though but will be one of the worlds best, buyable).

Bernard (Shaktar, same as De Bruyne, worth a go).

Patrick Roberts (Fulham, Will become England's best player, buyable.).

Strikers.
Enner Valencia (Pachuca, amazing at the world cup, can finish, is strong, unbelievable athletic, must buy in my opinion, buyable).

Leandro Damiao, (Santos, Flopped at Santos, wants to come to Europe, only £12 mill now, worth a go).

Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea want to sell, Manzukic to Athletico, worth a bid but close to £20mill).

Luis Muriel (Udinese, would cost £15 mill, future Columbia number 9, worth a go.

We should sell, All the deadwood players: Hoiiveld, Sharpe, Fox, Mayuka etc. As well as Osvaldo, Ramirez, Yoshida, Steven Davis.. Use that money to further strengthen the squad.

Take your pick from these players, 1GK, 3 CB’s, 1 CM, 1 AM, 1 RW, 1 LW, 2 STRIKERS.

Sell Lovren and Schbeiderlin if they both want to go and buy more replacements, if we brought players like these with our £80, £60, £100 mill whatever it is.

I agree agents and the press know that we have money to spend and what positions we need so we will get plenty of these rumors until the deadline.

I am also concerned if West Ham did not think he was worth signing and that there have been many mediocre players doing well in the tournament but will be back to being average at their clubs.

I thought the French 22yr old LB at Nice was a target (can't spell his name) or Swansea's LB ?

I we are after David Marshall from Cardiff I hope we are also bidding for Steven Caulker before QPR get him. We could offer Gazza, Hoover & Jose plus cash for these two, especially as we turned down their offer for Jose.

There are three young Feyenoord CB's in the Dutch Squad that look good as well Vlaar & the one at Celtic, so RonKo must be able to get one or two of these.

Les appears to be moving very slowly getting the new signings they have identified. Hope we get 3 or 4 signed up this week.

In condemning all those players who have gone or want away, then it is obvious I agree with everyone 100% - and give a good "hello" or "bye, bye" when they come to st. Mary's.

I do not profess to know all the names being mentioned, Marshall and Caulker - yes, of course. But since RK is so popular and approved on here, then I am quite happy to see who he brings in and trust his judgment, and this seems the right attitude.

After a few games then we can see and comment. One thing, he won't sign anyone because we talk about it.

Red and White stripes, yes, it's going to be exciting again. COYS (Saints or stripes).

Don't like to see Good, Loyal players described as 'deadwood' by our own fans, not classy and not sensible -in fact very self-destructive.
For discretion's sake I don't want to repeat naming them or the authors to draw any more attention to them.
The 'cancer' is surely the mutineers and their agents who engineer the grooming process. If we're to start again, we must build our squad around the good honest professionals, whether young or old, and the only flaw in the academy to be corrected: the education of some 2-way loyalty.
Oh, and while we're at it, let's put that other myth to bed, that "everyone would move for a better offer" -total ball axe!
The majority of mature people would not react in such a knee-jerk way, there are other ways to further yourselves successfully. If you must make excuses for these 'professionals' it's the brevity of their careers, and their general unsuitability for any other sort of career path.
