CHILDREN helped to build a mosaic out of 30,000 LEGO bricks at a respite home in North Waltham.
More than 150 people turned up for the family fun day at The Bluebells – the holiday home for children with life-limiting conditions which was set up by the Sebastian Action’s Trust charity.
The central attraction was a chance to take part in building a mosaic of the front of the house.
While it was not finished on the day, children made a great start, following a guide to build segments of the mosaic.
The project was overseen by Duncan Titmarsh, the only certified LEGO builder in the UK, who once built a replica of Basing House using 150,000 bricks.
He said: “Everybody has enjoyed doing it – it’s like paint-by-numbers but with LEGO bricks.”
Councillor Anne Court, Deputy Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, opened the fun day before going on a tour of the facilities.
Other attractions at the event included a bouncy castle and a barbecue.
Caroline Graham, of Ravel Close, Brighton Hill, Basingstoke, came along with her 10-year-old son Ben and her 12-year-old niece Carenza.
She said: “I could not drag them away. They have been having lots of fun and it has been a fantastic event.”
Mark Courage, a trustee of the charity, said: “It has gone very well and there’s been some very positive feedback.”
