SITTING in the sunshine, in Moses Gate Country Park, being grateful for the wildlife and green spaces, we couldn’t help noticing the number of people who use it for recycling their leftovers.
Eighteen bags, packed to the brim with leftover food were tipped into the pond. Bag after bag in the same spot.
The wildlife obviously can’t consume that amount of devitalised, bleached white bread and other remnants. It sinks and pollutes the water where these creatures drink and survive.
There are many websites offering advice and information on what foods to feed swans, geese, ducks and birds.
Feeding the ducks has become fly tipping and needs to be addressed.
