Saints have begun their pre-season training camp in Belgium, with new manager Ronald Koeman putting his players through their paces.

Defender Dejan Lovren is one of the squad members to have made the trip, with Koeman issuing him instructions in the below picture.

Croatian international Lovren has been the subject of two failed bids from Liverpool this summer, and said recently that he feels his head is already at Anfield.

The centre half had been considering staying away from pre-season in a bid to force through a move to the Reds.

However, Lovren opted to return in the end, after speaking twice to Koeman on the phone and hearing the strong words the new manager had to say when he held his first press conference last Friday.

At that point, Koeman admitted he did not know if the 25-year-old would show up, but Lovren was on the plane that left from Southampton on Sunday, and he was out on the training pitch yesterday.

While the two have been speaking together during the sessions, Koeman also plans to sit down off-the-pitch with the defender while they are away to discuss matters.

The training camp, which is being held just outside Genk, also gives summer signing Dusan Tadic, an £11m capture from FC Twente, a chance to work with his new teammates.

Tadic may feature in tomorrow's friendly against Dutch amateur side EHC Hoensbroek, as Saints hop over to the Netherlands for the first of two fixtures this week.

They will return to Belgium to face KSK Hasselt on Thursday.
