AFC STONEHAM have appointed the ideal chairman to help them build for a new future.

Roy Kingdon, owner of Kingdon Building Services, is the new man at the helm of the ambitious Hampshire Premier League Senior Division club.

Formerly on the board at Sydenhams Premier champions Sholing, Kingdon has already had a major impact at Chestnut Avenue where ground improvements are well on course to be finished in time for the big 2014/15 kick-off.

The work includes a new 100-seater stand, hard standing, a large patio area, new two-tiered dugouts and pathways leading from the changing rooms to the pitch entrance.

“This is obviously a massive stride forward towards our main goal of Wessex League football,”

said Stoneham’s head of football/first team manager Adam Pullinger.

“We have also completed the acquisition of floodlights which should be installed at some point in the near future.

“The new chairman has almost single-handledly carried out this work under the banner of Kingdon Building Services.

“With all this work, combined with the hours of work carried out on the pitch by our devoted groundsman Iain Cowe, it looks as though it will be a fresher, nicer place to be with a playing surface we can finally be pleased with.”

Kingdon has wasted no time either in bringing two major sponsors into the club.

Hampshire builders Elliotts have purchased naming rights to the Chestnut Avenue ground in Eastleigh, which will be known as The Elliotts Arena for the next two years.

Southampon building company S&W Builders have also got behind the project, agreeing a two- year deal as new home shirt spon¬ sors.

“We thank Elliotts and S&W Builders very much indeed for supporting our club financially,” said Kingdon. “We hope both sponsorship deals will be beneficial to all concerned.”

Paul Cleary, Elliotts’ sales director echoed those thoughts, saying: “Elliotts, Hampshire’s leading inde¬ pendent builders merchants, are delighted to be associated with AFC Stoneham and give our name to their stadium and support grass roots football in the area.

“We hope to have a successful association with them over the next two years and wish them every suc¬ cess in the coming season.”

Adey Watts, joint proprietor of S&W Builders, added: “We are happy to support AFC Stoneham as home shirt sponsor and look forward to seeing them hopefully push on to a higher playing level.”
