HAMBLE’S cycling queen Dani King has failed to qualify for the women’s individual pursuit final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
King finished eighth in the qualifying race, a place behind fellow Team GB world champion Elinor Barker of Wales.
England's Joanna Rowsell will ride for gold in the final after setting a new Games record in qualifying.
Rowsell, the world champion following her success in Cali this year, was in the last pair to go in a strong field in the 3,000 metres discipline and produced a fine performance.
She overtook New Zealand's Lauren Ellis on the track as she clocked three minutes 29.038 seconds, lowering the previous Games best set by Australian Katie Mactier in Melbourne eight years ago.

She will face Annette Edmondson in the head-to-head final later today, with Scotland's Katie Archibald qualifying fourth for a spot in the bronze medal match against Australia's Amy Cure.
Double Olympic champion Laura Trott harboured big hopes of a podium place but was edged into sixth, two places ahead of King.
