EASTLEIGH produced a second half comeback to come from 1-3 down to draw at home to League 1 outfit Crawley in a pre season friendly at the Silverlake Stadium, writes KIERAN JAMES.

Gavin Tomlin put Crawley in front early on before Jai Reason equalised shortly after.

Further goals for the visitors saw Lewis Young and Tomlin both netting for Crawley before the break.

Richard Hill’s Conference Premier newcomers, however, dug deep as striker Ben Wright and academy graduate Tony Lee struck for a 3-3 draw.

Crawley manager John Gregory, who once managed Wycome Wonderers and QPR with Hill as his number two, fielded a strong side including ex-Pompey man Sonny Bradley and striker McLeod.

Hill handed Australian trialist Patrick Antelmi, who recently got released by Wigan Athletic, a run out and left former Crawley striker and Eastleigh assistant manger, Craig McAllister, on the bench.

Crawley took the lead after ten minutes when McLeod out-paced defender Dean Beckwith on the right wing to put in a dangerous low cross for Tomlin to tap in.

Eastleigh scored a deserved equaliser when Reason brilliantly hooked a left foot effort in off the crossbar.

Crawley were soon back in front as Josh Simpson fired in a shot from just outside the box that Flitney spilt for Young to follow up.

And it was not long before Crawley extended their lead, Flitney again parrying a shot from Simpson and Tomlin netting the rebound with a sweet half-volley.

Hill made only made one change at half time, bringing off Antelmi for McAllister.

Just past the hour mark and the hosts reduced the deficit as striker Wright sent a powerful low strike into the bottom left corner.

Hill gave young goalkeeper Lewis Noice a chance between the sticks in the closing minutes as well as Academy graduates Lee, Jack Smith and Harrison Weeks.

And it was Lee that earned the Spitfires a well earned equaliser in the closing stages.

The youngster climbed high to place a powerful header past keeper Spiegel.
