BLACKFIELD & Langley have a familiar face back on board for the start of the new Sydenhams Premier Division campaign.

The Watersiders have welcomed back wing wizard Ekow Elliott who spent last season plying his trade in the Southern Premier Division with Poole Town.

Elliott was a star of the Blackfield side that won the Wessex title under Ashley Vickers two years ago and will be hoping history repeats under the experienced stewardship of John Robson.

The wide man tweeted: “Pleased to be back and scoring goals at @bandlfc. Hope it’s another season to remember for The Watersiders.”

One of Robson’s good friends, Neil Benson, will occupy the opposing dugout tomorrow as Blackfield’s season lifts off at home to Premier new boys Andover Town.

The north Hampshire club – set up in conjunction with the Sparsholt Academy – will be without ex-Saints defender Lloyd Foot who looks destined for bigger things.

Foot, 21, who had four years at St Mary’s in his teens, has spent pre-season with Sutton United and Burton Albion. Bemerton, home to promoted Division One champions Petersfield Town tomorrow, have lost highly-rated striker Joe Sanger who is taking a break from the game, while Kane O’Keefe and Danny Young have joined Blackfield.

The Harlequins have replaced Sanger with former Brockenhurst marksman Scott Joyce from Bashley, but their other frontline threat Jack Slade must serve a three-match ban.

Pepping up Petersfield’s attack is former Portsmouth and Sholing striker Warren Hunt, signed from Moneyfields.
