Sholing striker Jamie Mansell has signed for Sydenhams Premier Division side Whitchurch United.

The youngster, who has played for the Boatmen’s youth teams and won a series of trophies with the reserves last term, has signed for The Jam Boys on a temporary gentleman’s agreement where Sholing can recall the attacker if they need.

“I’m pleased to have him on board, he’ll be starting against Totton & Eling tonight,” said Whitchurch boss Carl Bennett.

Main striker Danny Phillips has gone on holiday, meaning he’ll miss a few games, giving Mansell his chance to impress in the Wessex.

Whitchurch have also signed former Winchester youngster Josh Harfield.

The north Hampshire side drew 3-3 with Blackfield & Langley on Saturday and Bennett feels they could have easily won that match at Longmeadow.

Mansell made his debut, coming off the bench in the second-half.

Jack Garner missed a one-on-one with Gareth Barfoot in the Watersiders’ net and that cost them as Jake Rowley and a Michael Durdey penalty on 83 minutes secured the draw.

“We could have easily won,” said Bennett.

“I’d put my house on Jack Garner to score from a one-on-one and I was surprised that he missed.

“That would have made it 4-2 and they wouldn’t have caught us.”

Ryan Lambert and a Phillips brace put them 3-2 up after a two minute double as Dave Ewen notched from the spot and Jake Rowley scored for B&L.
