Ex-Eastleigh midfielder Jamie Brown is facing an uncertain future after his Gosport Borough contract was terminated – subject to an appeal.

Brown led the Privett Park outfit out at Wembley as captain in their FA Trophy final defeat, but has since caused upset at Gosport following a rant on social media and an alleged verbal confrontation with chairman Mark Hook.

The Twitter rampage, which saw him criticise the Vanarama Conference South outfit after the players were left without accommodation for the night during a pre-season trip to Guernsey, wasn’t the reason for the decision to sack him.

It was his behaviour during a verbal confrontation with Hook that caused the issue.

Despite the turbulence in the background, Alex Pike’s side won 1-0 in their season opener at Chelmsford.

He said: “As a manager and as a club, you don’t want to have the week that we’ve just had with Jamie.

“But it proves what a great team spirit we have.

“They put it behind them and it was a complete and utter battle at Chelmsford, especially when we went down to 10 men for the last 10 minutes.

“I’m just proud to be their manager.”

Sholing’s FA Vase hero made his competitive debut for Borough along with four other summer recruits, Matt Paterson, Steve Ramsey and Ben Gerring.

When contacted by the Echo, Jamie Brown said he would not be making any comment until his appeal has taken place.
