CRAIG Feeney struck twice in the first six minutes at the Testwood Stadium tonight – and AFC Totton never looked back.

In a perfect response to Saturday’s 3-1 home reverse by Yate Town, the rampant Stags crushed Swindon Supermarine 6-1 in the Southern Division One South & West.

Feeney, a summer signing from Blackfield & Langley, struck inside 20 seconds, darting between two defenders to bury Nathaniel Sherborne’s neat flick-on.

Five minutes later he was at it again, burying Jamie Bulpitt’s near post cross, and, by the ninth minute, it was 3-0 thanks to Chris Onoufriou’s header from a corner.

“We lacked quality against Yate, but this time we played at a good tempo,” said manager Steve Riley. “But Swindon came back from 3-0 down to beat Shortwood 4-3 on Saturday, so we knew they had a bit about them. Our goalkeeper Steve Mowthorpe made a couple of good saves at 3-0, palming one out and making a double stop with his legs, but he didn’t have much else to do.

“It says a lot about us that Steve was disappointed to concede a goal when the ball ricocheted off (Totton’s) Drew Bridge, hit the post and went in.”

That Swindon reply arrived in the 60th minute, but by then the hapless visitors were 6-0 down.

New American signing Kyle O’Brien sank Totton’s 40th-minute fourth from 25 yards and, with half-time approaching, Bridge – predominantly left-footed – caressed Bulpitt’s driven cross into the top corner with his right peg to make it 5-0.

Goal number six duly arrived on 50 minutes when sub Zac Mouland raced through one-on-one to score.

Delighted boss Riley summed up: “We were solid, disciplined and we passed the ball really well. Our workrate, energy levels and fitness levels were phenomenal.”
