HAMPSHIRE seamers Tom Barber and Basil Akram will make their debuts in today’s 50-over dead rubber against Yorkshire at The Ageas Bowl.

Former England U19 left-armer Barber and Akram, a 21-year-old on a development contract till the end of the season, have been given the chance to play in the county’s final Royal London One-Day Cup match of the season.

Hampshire’s interest in the competition is over, but Yorkshire have a home quarter-final to play for having already secured their place in the last eight.

Jimmy Adams is one of six players in the side expected to play at Finals Day, but he will have a rest from the captaincy with Michael Carberry leading Hampshire for the first time.

Captaincy It will be the first captaincy experience of Carberry’s career, since leading the Second XIs of Surrey and Kent on a coupl eof occasions more than a decade ago.

James Vince, Chris Wood, Will Smith and Sean Ervine are all rested ahead of NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day.

Like Barber and Akram, former Sussex batsman Joe Gatting will be making his List A debut for Hampshire.

Hampshire’s rookie attack will be taking on in-form openers Adam Lyth and Alex Lees as well as the likes of Tim Bresnan and Jonny Bairstow.

Play begins at The Ageas Bowl at 2pm.
