SOUTHAMPTON’S reward for beating Millwall in the Capital One Cup is another tough away tie, this time to fellow Premier League outfit Arsenal.

Ronald Koeman will match wits against the division’s longest-serving manager Arsene Wenger when his side return to London next month for the Third Round tie.

But while Saints have already shown they are taking the competition seriously by fielding a strong line-up in the 2-0 victory over Millwall on Tuesday night, their opponents may have other priorities after successfully negotiating their way into the group stages of the Champions League last night.

Bournemouth travel to Cardiff for their match, but Portsmouth are out after defeat at Stoke.

CAPITAL ONE CUP THIRD ROUND DRAW: Chelsea v Bolton, Arsenal v Southampton, West Brom v Hull, Crystal Palace v Newcastle, Leyton Orient v Sheff Utd, Cardiff v Bournemouth, Sunderland v Stoke, Derby v Reading, Liverpool v Middlesbrough, MK Dons v Bradford, Man City v Sheff Wed, Burton v Brighton, Swansea v Everton, Shrewsbury v Norwich, Fulham v Doncaster, Tottenham v Nottm Forest. Ties to be played on September 23-24.

Whinger's bunch have got to go out of the competition sometime so why not in the third round. As they are in the CL now and will want to win the Prem, I guess the Whinger will not put out his strongest team so we should have every chance.

Bring it on. Shame about Poopey. That would have been a great fixture - we could have fielded our juniors and still won handily!

Giroud injured, lots of Red cards flying in their direction, Sanchez the main threat I guess, we will never have a better chance of getting a result.

I hope Arse'n'all put out their strongest team so that when we beat them there will be no excuses from the Arse'n'all manager.

Looking at the above picture, i'm glad we didn't sign Hernandez..... With all respect to Dons if you not only can't score against a Division One team, but lose 4-0 to them, I would rather sign one of their strikers!

Sorry Deepheat

There will ALWAYS be an excuse from the Frenchman and it will ALWAYS be someone else's fault

It's written on tablets of stone

Without wanting to exert the weight of expectation, I hope we do well against Arsenal. Would be a tremendous boost for the team.

I guy I met recently who is a pom and supports the Wolves, he was telling me that skunt contractors were hired to help build St. Mary's, and cursed it by throwing Portsmouth shirts in with the concrete. I thought he was having me on, but after seeing the emergance of the phantom skate hacker on here I am wondering if programmers from Portsmouth may also have had a hand in designing this website.

Lets hope we have the extra 4 quality players in by Monday and get them settled in, also that Arsenal have not 'nicked' our transfer targets &/or signed any more of our players by then.
