Hampshire have named an unchanged squad for their latest LV= County Championship match, as they look to take a big step towards promotion.

Bottom side Leicestershire will be the visitors to the Ageas Bowl tomorrow, for the start of a four-day contest, with Hampshire hoping to strengthen their grip on second place in Division Two.

The match represents their game-in-hand on Surrey, who lie third, and provides an excellent opportunity to move closer to a top-flight return.

Hampshire have selected the same 12 who powered to a 196-run win at Kent in their last County Championship outing, meaning all-rounder Chris Wood – who impressed with bat and ball at Canterbury – gets a second appearance in this season’s competition.

While Leicestershire have failed to register a win in their dozen matches this season, Hampshire’s director of cricket, Giles White, pictured, is taking nothing for granted.

“We are well-placed in the division and we need to build on that to make sure we play good cricket and get over the line,” he said.

“Their [Leicestershire’s] division placing means that they are not under pressure and they can play with freedom and that makes them dangerous.

“They’ve got talented players, but we know if we can play well then hopefully we will come out on top.”
