Tottonians face their second Hampshire derby in as many weeks as they look to keep pace with London 2 South-West’s leading clubs.

Totts have home advantage against Portsmouth tomorrow – a week after an opening day success at Winchester.

Back in the front row comes prop Danny Drake, who was unavailable for the first game, and Mike Searle who had to sit out the Winchester clash with a dead leg.

Coach Gavin Williams was pleased with the opening victory but still found things for his side to work on.

He said: “We will look to press on from a good start.

“Our defence was really good and we took our chances well. We were pleased with certain aspects but not with our levels of accuracy around the breakdown and with ball retention.

“Players played with ambition but forced it a little bit too much – probably a little bit of early-season nerves.”

Winchester, who dominated attack against Totts seven days ago, head for Tadley, who joined the SW2 ranks after winning the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier League.

Tadley found their opening clash tough going – losing out 40-5 to last season’s SW3 runners-up KCS Old Boys.

Conner Breen is back at scrum half for Winch while coach Andy Fields is keen to include new second row Matt Golding.

“We have the same pack as last week and I’m pleased about that because I thought they did a good job,” said Fields.

“It’s about being a team and pulling together. We have a young team and I think they will learn from that, they were certainly making the right noises when we talked about it.”
