Andover dominated opponents Trojans to claim the bragging rights between London 3 South-West’s newcomers.

The All Blacks, promoted from Hampshire 1, ran in six tries to win 38-7 as they bossed Trojans, relegated from SW2, at the Goodship Ground.

Trojans found Andover’s pack too hard to handle as they pushed over three times, club stalwart Number 8 Mark Wilding getting the final touch each time to claim a hat-trick.

Winger Dave Catt helped himself to a couple of tries with the third coming from Sam Froggett. Rick Woodley converted four of the scores.

Andover head coach Andy Waite said: “That win puts us on the map a little bit as far as this league is concerned and we know we have a pack that can compete with anyone.”

Waite had special praise for hooker Tom Waite, second row Tom Erskine and fly-half Alex Kane.

Ellingham & Ringwood’s stay at the top of SW3 lasted just seven days as they were replaced by opponents New Milton & District.

Milton, who have secured the services of former Bournemouth coach David Dunn, out-scored their local rivals five tries to one at Ashley Rec.

James Poole got New Milton’s first try which was converted by Ryan Morrell after he had opened the scoring with a penalty.

The Es hit back with a couple of penalties from Ali Bennett but Morrell scored an intercepted try before adding the two extra points.

He kicked another penalty after the break and Sam Bew picked up from a scrum 30 metres out to touch down.

Milton wrapped up the game when a Dan Oliver break was finished off by Gareth Philip-Smith and Jacob Dear converted. Ellingham replied with a try from Garrett Avis, converted by Bennett who was earlier sidelined for ten minutes with a yellow card.

Dave Simmons was named Milton’s man of the match.

New Milton sit above Eastleigh on points difference after they picked up their second bonus point win on the bounce.

Eastleigh travelled across The Solent to Sandown & Shanklin and returned victorious with a 27-17 success.

Early pressure from Eastleigh saw an opponent yellow carded and second row Russ Smith crossed the line not long after.

Dogged defending kept Eastleigh at bay and the home side got on the scoreboard with a penalty on 30 minutes after a rare visit into their opponents’ half.

Eastleigh hit back immediately with a penalty of their own through Matt Blackman before they were rewarded with a penalty try for their efforts – given when a Sandown player stood up in the scrum as Eastleigh captain Paul Fudio was about to place down.

Blackman’s conversion put Eastleigh 15-3 up and ten minutes into the second half prop Dan Achilles secured the bonus point try with a quickly taken penalty.

Sandown hit back with a couple of converted tries in the last ten minutes.

Eastleigh head coach Andy Boyes said: “I think it’s fair to say we dominated Sandown & Shanklin in all areas for the majority of the game today.

“We briefly switched off near the end which allowed them a couple of soft scores. It was a really good team performance and we’re getting back to the level we finished on last season.”

Second row John Williams was Eastleigh’s man of the match.
