Twins Rod and Ray Wallace, two thirds of the family dynasty to star for Saints, celebrate their 45th birthdays today.

Rod was a speedy winger while Ray was a right-back.

The younger brothers of ex-Saints winger Danny, both signed pro forms for Saints in 1988, though Rodney had already made the first few of his 151 starts for the club by then.

Ray made 46 appearances, getting his first start in a side that included both his brothers, but largely played second fiddle to Jason Dodd.

Rod helped himself to 56 goals across his Saints career.

When Leeds signed Rod in 1991, Ray went along as part of the deal.

After a successful career at Stoke, Ray ended up working in a gym and then a health club.

Rod went on to play for Glasgow Rangers, and has coached non-league clubs.

Neil Maddison also celebrates his 45th birthday today.

Part of the teenage cohort of Saints players moulded into shape by Dave Merrington, the battling midfielder turned out for Saints between 1988 and 1998, with a return of 19 goals in 197 games.

After 11 years at The Dell, including an appearance in the ZDS Trophy final loss to Nottingham Forest in 1992, he left for a new challenge.

He returned to his native north east to help Middlesborough win promotion to the top flight in 1997/98, also appearing in their League Cup final defeat to Chelsea the same season.

Maddison is now a radio pundit and coach.
