SAINTS boss Ronald Koeman has been linked with his former Ajax midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

Koeman gave Sneijder has Ajax debut in 2002 prior to the player going on to star for Real Madrid and Inter.

Sneijder is currently at Galatasaray but is rumoured to be keen to leave Turkey during next month’s January transfer window.

It is believed Galatasaray would consider selling the 30-year-old in a bid to ease their financial problems.

Sneijder, who cost his club £8m in January 2013, reportedly earns around £2.5million-a-year at Galatasaray and the club have failed to pay him on time recently.

Sneijder, who has won 111 caps for the Netherlands during his career, is also being linked with Manchester United – the latter also having a Dutch boss in Louis Van Gaal.

Van Gaal is also well known to Sneijder, having been his national team boss for the last two years prior to Van Gaal leaving after last summer’s World Cup to take over at Old Trafford.
