Jose Fonte will be suspended for the Boxing Day clash against Crystal Palace after collecting his fifth booking of the season.

The centre half was yellow carded in the second half of the 3-0 win over Everton at St Mary’s after bringing down Ross Barkley just outside the area.

Fonte’s absence may mean that Ronald Koeman reverts to a back four rather than playing with three centre backs as he did for the victory at St Mary’s. The other option will be to recall Florin Gardos, who has now served his one game ban for a red card at Sheffield United.

Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama will also be available again at Selhurst Park after they sat completed their bans.
