Saints are hopeful that Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama will provide them with a timely fitness boost as they face QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday.

The midfield duo are set to return for game against managerless Rangers as Saints aim to recover from back-to-back defeats.

Toby Alderweireld will not return for this weekend, or the midweek fixture against West Ham next week, but should be ready when Saints host Liverpool later this month.

Koeman said: “Normally we have to wait the reaction of the last training sessions about Victor. Normally Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin are back for this weekend.

“Toby need maybe one week more. He will not reach the West Ham game next Wednesday but normally the next one, Liverpool at home, he will be available.”

Koeman also confirmed that deadline day signing Filip Djuricic will not be available for this weekend as he awaits a work permit.

“No he’s waiting for his work permit and normally he will get it tomorrow and then he’s coming back, but not for this Saturday,” reported Koeman.

“After signing the deal he went back and he’s waiting three or four days for his work permit.

“I got some info this morning that normally he can come back tomorrow afternoon and then start training.”

The Saints boss was happy with January business overall.

“I am very pleased because what I said after the game last week that at least we expect one player to bring in, and finally Djuricic is the new player on loan until the end of the season,” he commented.

“We kept everybody in the club.

“There was a lot of rumours also about that, that maybe some players will leave the club but happy about the squad what we have and happy about some players who are back after injuries what they had the last few weeks.”
