Eljero Elia had two reasons to celebrate on Saturday night – not only because he helped Saints defeat QPR at Loftus Road but also he returned home with all his bits intact.
The winger was left writhing on the ground in agony after taking a ferocious kick to his crown jewels by QPR defender Richard Dunne.
The replay of the incident drew gasps of anguish from those who saw it, and certainly Elia looked as though he felt it.
He picked himself up and thankfully didn’t have to wait long until half time in which he composed himself again.
After the game, Elia took to Twitter to update on his injury.
He joked: “Btw everything is ok with my balls. I am lucky I already have 3 children #lol.”
Yes 3 points, happy with the result!!! Need to keep it going #wemarchon #saintsfc #believe
