Morgan Schneiderlin is a doubt for Saints ahead of their game against West Ham at St Mary’s tomorrow night.

The French midfielder played half an hour on his comeback from injury in the 1-0 win over QPR.

However, he has not had a good reaction to his return and could be forced to rest for the visit of the Hammers.

“We miss Toby Alderweireld, Ryan Bertrand, Matthew Targett. We have some doubts about Morgan Schneiderlin after 30 minutes, we miss Shane Long, Jay Rodriguez, Emmanuel Mayuka, Lloyd Isgrove is not available,” reported Ronald Koeman.

“It’s a lot and that means that we have 14 or 15 players, including two goalkeepers, and we need some players of the under-21s on the bench to have 18 players.

“I’m not afraid about that because we have 11 good players to start tomorrow and at least three good players if we need some changes in the game to do it, and if we need to change more than three players we can’t do it.”

There is good news on Targett, who suffered a head injury against QPR.

He is just suffering from concussion and is expected to make a quick recovery.

“Matthew is not available for tomorrow,” confirmed Koeman.

“The risk is too high after what happened last Saturday and we know Ryan Bertrand is suspended.

“Unlucky but Maya Yoshida did a great job and it’s always the manager is happy to have that kind of players who can play in different positions.

“He showed there is no problems if we have two left full backs with problems because he showed his quality in that position.”

Koeman will be able to call upon Filip Djuricic after the Serbian midfielder was given a work permit.

“Finally Filip Djuricic got his work permit yesterday afternoon and did a normal training session this morning “He’s part of the squad for tomorrow and it’s an exception because it’s not in my opinion good to have a player with one session in the last week.

“We miss eight or nine players tomorrow so an exception to put Djuricic on the bench but if we need a quality player I can put Djuricic in, not for 90 minutes but for 45 minutes or less.”
