FAVOURITES Sholing are out of the Russell Cotes Cup.
The Southern League Boatmen were the highest ranked side left in the competition heading into last night's quarter-final at home to Horndean.
But, after a goalless first-half, the Sydenhams Premier visitors went 2-0 up through Nathan Paxton and Harry Potter, leaving Sholing the scant consolation of a late Barry Mason penalty.
The Deans' 2-1 win sets up a home semi-final against Bemerton Heath Harlequins, playing for the right to face Blackfield & Langley in the final.
