Ross Wilson has been appointed as Southampton’s new director of scouting and recruitment.
Wilson officially stars work at St Mary’s on Monday after leaving his job as head of football operations at Championship side Huddersfield.
The 33-year-old has previously worked at Watford and Falkirk and replaces Paul Mitchell, who moved to Tottenham to link up again with Mauricio Pochettino.
Wilson will slot straight into Mitchell’s role and report to manager Ronald Koeman as well as Les Reed, who oversees all football matters at St Mary’s.
He will be allowed to help Huddersfield find his replacement.
Wilson’s successes at Huddersfield include the likes of Nahki Wells, Conor Coady, Jacob Butterfield, Jonathan Hogg and Philip Billing, working with the academy as well as the first team.
He could be thrust straight into the heat of Premier League transfer action with another busy summer expected off the field at St Mary’s.
